Somatic Experiencing Therapy

Trauma is a fact of life. It can result from extraordinary events, such as violence, physical, emotional, sexual abuse, addictions and PTSD, as well as everyday “ordinary” events, such as injuries, car accidents, divorce, job loss, grief, perinatal, postnatal, post-partum, surgery and medical procedures.

Fortunately, resilience is also a fact of life. We all possess the capacity to rebound from stress and accompanying feelings of fear and helplessness.

Somatic Experiencing is a body-orientated approach in the healing of trauma and other stress disorders. It’s a method of releasing traumatic shock from the body in order to heal, restore and move towards greater resilience, self-regulation and mindfulness.

Somatic Experiencing is not talk therapy it supports the nervous system to renegotiate and heal trauma, rather than relive or re-enact the traumatic experience.
