Last Door Addiction treatment Recovery Centre for adult males uses an integrated-community social model approach in our residential addiction treatment settings. This provides an experimental peer-oriented process to inspire and assist men in seeking recovery from addiction-related issues.

Last Door offers Private Drug and Alcohol Medical Detox, 10-day Intro to Addiction Recovery Program, Family ProgramReturn To Work  Treatment Program, and longer, open-ended inpatient addiction treatment and therapy, Continuing Care Addiction Recovery Programs.

Drug and Alcohol Recovery, as seen from this social model perspective, is a long-term process that involves a balance between self, communities, family and peers. Prior to treatment many people have organized their lives around addiction or using substances. To support healing from the effects of addiction and substance misuse, and practice behaviours changes we provide education, counselling and recovery-oriented experiences in abstinence-supported residences.

Clients are actively engaged in a recovery community that includes practical life skills that imbed concepts of responsibility and choices in their daily activities. They develop peer support and comradery, learn to rely on each other and support others.  The process of positive peer support and inclusion is guided by professional, experienced staff.

Programs include residences in an urban setting in the City of New Westminster as well as a rural retreat option at Last Door’s Keystone Retreat located on 40 acres in Mission BC.  Keystone provides clients with smaller group experience and time spent outdoors. Family programming takes place in both New Westminster and in Mission.

The Last Door collaborates with Benefits Providers, Disability Managers, Union Representatives, EAP workers and several Monitoring Programs across Canada.  From intake to discharge, Last Door’s professional approach streamlines patient care.

More Information

Health is best understood as a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors rather than purely in biological terms. The Social Model Addiction Treatment Program at Last Door adheres to the biopsychosocial model. This general model or asserts that biological, psychological (which entails thoughts, emotions, and behaviors), and social factors, all play a significant role in functioning in recovery from addiction. Last Door's Life Style Group, Gambling Media Group, Ecotherapy, and Recreational experiences provide a well-rounded treatment approach. Our clinical teams assist men in returning to school or work, becoming healthier parents and partners, addressing physical and mental health concerns, and rebuilding relationships impacted by addiction.
